Tennis Court Services

Power washing - Beware Moss The Destroyer

Having carried out maintenance and repairs to tennis courts all my working life I quickly realised that moss is more harmful to a surface than high use or cold winters.

power wash

Moss will degrade the bitumen binder causing the surface to fret and break down. This greatly lessens the courts' life which in turn may lead to an early, expensive re-surface. Unfortunately too many tennis court owners allow moss and algae to become widespread before they take action. Courts in shady areas surrounded by trees and buildings are particularly vulnerable to moss. Also courts with overhanging tree branches can be prone to bird droppings which, if not cleaned, will also damage the court.

A mossy surface can also be dangerous to play on. When the conditions are dry moss is not so noticeable. However, after a wet period the moss becomes very slippery and has been responsible for many instances of players falling and injuring themselves.

By regularly - perhaps annually - cleaning the surface using our own specialised high powered cleaning equipment, the court will be left moss free, safe to play on with improved drainage and grip but more importantly WILL GREATLY PROLONG THE LIFE OF THE COURT.

All the above applies, not only to all weather macadam surfaces, but to synthetic surfaces as well.

Court Repairs

Four Seasons are also happy to undertake all surface repairs from rectifying root damage, repairing cracks, filling holes and generally making a court safe to play on.

General Cleaning

As well as cleaning all sports surfaces we can transform mossy drives, patios, swimming pool surrounds, garden furniture, etc. to as new condition again.

Fungicides/ Moss Treatments

I do not believe that anti fungicides will keep a court clear of moss. On their own anti fungicides may kill the moss but the court will then have to be power washed thoroughly to clean the dead moss off the surface otherwise new moss will quickly grow again on the dead and decaying moss.

Unfortunately there is no moss killer on the market that, once sprayed onto a court surface, will contaminate the court so moss never appears again. Therefore, there is an option to use antifungicides but only in conjunction with full power washing.

Weed Treatments

As well as moss treatments Four Seasons are also happy to offer a full weed killing service and to repair any court damage caused by the intrusion of weed growth.

Colour Coating

After a court has been cleaned many clients will have the court repainted to give an as of new appearance. Four Seasons are specialists and market leaders in colour coating tennis courts using the very best British made paint on either new or older tennis courts that need rejuvenating.

Colour coating is the decorative final coating that will transform a tired tennis court into an attractive feature in the garden, club or school environment. We can paint courts in any colour normally two-tone green, red and green, all dark green or blue and green which is becoming increasingly more popular.

Our colour coating is a water based acrylic, slip resistant and conforms to the highest LTA specification. We normally apply the colour coating in three coats using a specialist high powered paint sprayer delivering paint to the surface at exactly the correct thickness to achieve durable life but also to retain the porosity of the surface. Before colour coating courts it is essential to have the court thoroughly cleaned with a high powered cleaning system to achieve the very best paint finish.

As well as colour coating all sports surfaces we can also mark out any surface with the correct playing lines for any sport. Our colour coating for tennis courts includes a set of brilliant white sports lines for doubles tennis within the price.

Polyurethane Resin Binder

Probably one of the most important developments in the tennis court industry over the past few years. Polyurethane resin binder is a glue that is sprayed onto a cleaned surface immediately before the colour coating.

The polyurethane will bind the surface whilst retaining porosity. The binding action will stop or halt premature fretting and give the court several years extra life before re-surfacing is required. On older courts we would always recommend having the polyurethane binder in addition to the colour coating.

Fencing

Four Seasons will carry out all fencing works from merely repairing damaged chainlink and replacing broken strain wires, fully refurbishing ironwork using only the very best rust resistant paints to carrying out full fence replacement.

Four Seasons will only supply and install the highest quality fencing available using either the traditional angle style ironwork or the very top of the range tubular top rail fencing systems.

The top rail system consists of powder coated galvanised tubes for absolutely no maintenance. The posts are braced using a continuous top rail method which eliminates the need for diagonal supports giving a neater appearance to the fence. This system lends itself particularly well in creating drop sides to the fence for viewing.

Do Not Confuse The Top Rail System With The Massively Inferior Strutted Tubular System.

Tennis Court Equipment

Four Seasons can supply or supply and fit all types of sports equipment for tennis courts, netball courts, football, etc. All equipment is British made to the highest quality particularly our tennis posts that are nylon coated for no maintenance and fitted with brass furnishings. Our playing nets again are of the highest quality with canvas headbands (not PVC) and side and bottom bands. Please let us quote for your requirements regarding any sports equipment.
